School trips to Ensenada, Puerto Varas

We host school trips and class outings for schools that want accommodation and activities in one place, in southern Chile. Our base is in Ensenada, Puerto Varas district, at Route 225 km 44: on the shore of Lake Llanquihue, at the foot of Osorno Volcano and a short walk from Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Since the accommodation, the hall and the activities belong to the same company, the school deals with a single contact and the class loses no time on transfers.

What the school package includes

The package is built around the class: how many students, how old they are and how many days they stay. These are the pieces. We put together 2- or 3-day packages with accommodation, meals, activities and local transport, for groups of up to 40 people.

Covered campsites with picnic tables among the trees

Cabins or campsite accommodation

The base has cabins for 4 to 6 people, apartments for 2, a beach house for 13 and 28 covered campsites, with hot showers 24 hours a day. See the cabins for teachers and groups and the campsite for school groups. The cabins hold 40 people and the campsite about 130.

A hall for 50 people for classes and activities

A two-story hall for 50 people, with a kitchen, a dining room and a grill, ideal as a classroom or for class activities when it rains. Upstairs it has ping-pong and a climbing wall. It has a whiteboard and a TV with internet.

Several rafts run the Petrohue River rapids through native forest

Outdoor activities by age

Activities are chosen by the age of the class. Rafting from age 10 needs a minimum of 4 people per trip. For groups of 10 or more there is a trek with a boat trip on Lake Todos los Santos. We also run personal development workshops: a raft float on Lake Llanquihue, or a bike or kayak outing. At the base you can rent kayaks and bikes. Ziplining and horseback riding are run by local partner companies and arranged as part of the trip.

The quincho grill with roasted meats and vegetables

Barbecue areas and meals on request

The base has quinchos (covered barbecue areas) and grills for class barbecues, and the campsite shelter has a fire pit. There is a buffet breakfast, and lunch and dinner with a daily set menu, including special diets.

Safety and requirements for school groups

On the river, trips go with a bilingual guide and a rescue kayaker, and every student wears a life jacket and a helmet. Minimum ages apply per activity: rafting from 10, glacier trek from 15 and hydrospeed from 16. TerraSur is a direct operator, with local guides and up-to-date certifications. Each activity has the guides its service requires, with accident insurance and contingency plans.

Capacity, season and booking

We host school trips from March to December. Up to 40 people stay in the cabins and about 130 at the campsite. The booking is confirmed with a 50% deposit, and the cabins' cancellation policy applies.
