Cabins in Ensenada on the shore of Lake Llanquihue

Cabañas y Camping Barlovento is in Ensenada, on the shore of Lake Llanquihue and a short walk from Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, on the road to Petrohue. Ensenada belongs to the Puerto Varas district, 44 km from town. There are three kinds of accommodation, plus the hot tubs, all with bed linen and free parking. Pick the unit that fits your group:

Standard cabin for 4 to 6 people

The standard cabins are rustic, comfortable, fully equipped bungalows for groups of 4 to 6: families or friends who want to cook and stay several days in Ensenada. There are four: one for 6 people, two for 5 and one for 4. Each has a bedroom with a double bed and another with a bunk bed. The cabins for 5 and 6 add a sofa bed in the living-dining room, and the cabin for 6 has an extra single bed in the bunk room.

Kitchen, living-dining room, bathroom and covered terrace

Each cabin has a kitchen, a living-dining room and a private bathroom with hot water 24/7. It also has cable TV, a wifi zone and a covered terrace, so you can sit outside even when it rains.

Private quincho (barbecue area) and wood or pellet heating

The quincho, a barbecue area typical of southern Chile, is private: a grill with a counter on each cabin's covered terrace. The cabin for 6 has wood heating, and the cabins for 4 and 5 have pellet heating.

Apartments for 2 people

The apartments sleep 2: couples or friends looking for a smaller place to stay in Ensenada. There are three: one with a double bed and two with twin beds.

Double or twin beds and inverter heating

You can choose a double bed or twin beds. Each apartment has a small, equipped kitchen, split inverter heating, a private bathroom with hot water, cable TV and a wifi zone. The covered terrace is shared and there is access to the beach.

Beach house for 13 people with a heated pool

The Casa Playa (beach house) is the largest unit at Barlovento: it sleeps up to 13 and is fully equipped. It is built with native wood and has views of Lake Llanquihue and the volcanoes. It has five bedrooms: two with a double bed, one with two single beds, one with four single beds and one with a double bed and a single bed.

Heated pool, up to 30 °C

The beach house has a heated pool, with water up to 30 °C, to enjoy with family or friends. It is charged separately: CLP 80,000 per day. It is the option for large groups and families traveling together.

Four bathrooms, a quincho and lake views

It has a large kitchen, a living-dining room and 4 bathrooms, plus cable TV, a wifi zone, a covered terrace and wood heating. The quincho is fully equipped for group barbecues.

Hot tubs by the cabins or facing Lake Llanquihue

Barlovento has hot tubs next to the cabins or facing Lake Llanquihue, with views of the lake and the volcanoes. If you are looking for a cabin with a hot tub near Puerto Varas, check this section before you book.

Three wood-fired hot tubs for 6 people

There are three hot tubs: two on the beach and one among the cabins. Each holds up to 6 people and is heated with firewood. Renting one costs CLP 40,000 for 3 hours, on top of your stay, and it is used in the evening, from about 6 pm.

How to book and cancellation policy

Rates and seasons

Cabin rentals in Ensenada, near Puerto Varas: rates are per night and per unit. In low season (April to November), the apartment for 2 costs CLP 50,000; the cabin for 4, CLP 70,000; the cabin for 5, CLP 80,000, and the cabin for 6, CLP 90,000. In high season (December to March) they cost CLP 60,000, CLP 80,000, CLP 90,000 and CLP 100,000. The beach house for 13 costs CLP 240,000 per night, or CLP 260,000 for a single night in low season. The minimum stay is 2 nights on weekends and from December to February.

It is confirmed with a 50% deposit by bank transfer; the balance is paid on arrival by credit card, debit card or cash. Check-in is from 2:30 pm and check-out is until 10:30 am.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations must be requested in writing, by email or WhatsApp. With 15 days' notice or more, 100% of the deposit is refunded or kept as credit for another date. Between 7 and 14 days before arrival, 50% is refunded. Between 3 and 6 days before, 25% is lost and 75% stays as credit for a new date. With 2 days or less there is no refund. In high season, on public holidays and during school holidays, a booking can only be moved with more than 15 days' notice.

Getting to Ensenada from Puerto Varas

Barlovento shares its base with TerraSur Ecoaventura, on Route 225 km 44, on the shore of Lake Llanquihue. Parking is free.

From Puerto Varas: 44 km on Route 225

From Puerto Varas, take Route 225 (Ruta 225) toward Ensenada along Lake Llanquihue, about 45 minutes by car. In summer and on weekends, allow 10 to 15 minutes more.

From Puerto Montt and El Tepual Airport

From Puerto Montt and El Tepual Airport, drive to Puerto Varas first and then follow Route 225. From Puerto Montt it is 63 km, about 1 hour by car; from the airport, 67 km and about 1 h 5 min.

Are pets allowed?

Not in the cabins or the apartments. Pets are only allowed at the campsite.

Is the beach house pool included?

The heated pool of the beach house is rented separately, for CLP 80,000 per day, and the water reaches up to 30 °C.

Is there wifi in the cabins?

Yes: there is wifi and mobile signal, and every unit has cable TV. The stay includes bed linen and free parking.

Are towels and breakfast included?

Bed linen is included. Towels are included only in the apartments for 2. We do not serve breakfast, but there is a café very close by that does.

How far is the beach?

About 30 meters. Kayak and SUP rental on the beach costs extra.

Is there a discount on TerraSur activities?

Yes: Barlovento guests get 10% off TerraSur activities, such as rafting on the Petrohue River.

How far are the cabins from Puerto Varas?

They are 44 km away on Route 225, along Lake Llanquihue, about 45 minutes by car.
